Bad Taste in my Mouth

It started well enough.
The paint color is hideous, but the house has great curb appeal. I called Club Skittles to set up an appointment as soon as it popped up on the market.
The kitchen is one of the best we've seen. Granite tile countertops and modern cabinets...
And it has pool with an outdoor kitchen and grill!
Then we pulled into the driveway. It should have been our first sign-- two cars were already there-- and neither belonged to our realtor. Someone else was already showing the house, and they were not going to be out by our scheduled appointment.

The garage door opened and out came the listing agent and an older couple. They were just wrapping up and would be out of our way momentarily.

That's when one of the couple's three rugrats decided to spray bleach into her younger brother's mouth. The kid started screaming... and mom went into panic mode. It was chaos. But he ended up okay, and no one had to call poison control.

By this time, we'd been standing in the driveway for 20 minutes. It's 40 degrees outside.

They're not leaving... and I'm getting annoyed.

We decide to storm the house... and check out what it has to offer while their kids run around like wild banshees. Come to find out-- the owners have done quite a bit of renovating. But it appears they cut corners. The place where they tore out a wall to make the living room larger sticks out like sore thumb.

Then there was the water heater.

It's inside. In a closet. In the middle of the house. Does it really need all that insulation?

And upon closer inspection of the kitchen...

we notice this bizarre wall. What do you put on those shelves? Is it a glorified spice rack?

And what is that??

Yes, that. Right there in the corner.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is a cat door. Covered with Mardi Gras beads. One might ask why you need a cat door from the kitchen to the laundry room. And if Mr. Thomas is really too lazy to walk around to the regular door when he needs to use the litter box-- wouldn't you buy a regular cat door? Does Mr. Thomas use the beads to entice female felines to flash a teat?

The entire experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm sold on that festive cat door! Forget the pool! The cat door is where it's at!

Fishy Pie is all kinds of jealous of that cat door!

I think Fishy and Mr Thomas should hang out together. I bet Mr Thomas gets some hot babes with those beads!
Is that water heater meeting code???
